SPAIN: The Strength of the Nautical Industry

Sunseeker Spain are proud to mention that the nautical industry in Spain is booming and are honored to be a part of this ever-increasing economy. Nathalie Blatt, from Sunseeker Barcelona attended, the VI ANEN Congress last week and reported back strong positive figures.

A study headed up by one of the most credited universities in Spain: Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Abay Analistas Económicos, recently conducted a report on the nautical market in Spain and its effects on the economy as a whole. The aim of the report is to show the importance of the nautical industry to the government and what effects it has on the economy. The study took the data based on 3.700 nautical companies for 2016 with results in 2017.

The figures below state a few key points from the report:

The Nautical sector in Spain generates 19.700 jobs
The Added value of 923 million euros a year to the economy
The total remuneration of all works of the sector is of 653 million euros a year
The benefits surpass 247 million euros
The productivity is around 47.000 euros
The income of the sector (industry + service) is of 3.000 million euros

Data for nautical activities by regions in Spain:

Catalonia: 719 companies – 3.657 jobs – €623,5 million income
Balearic: 668 companies – 2.994 jobs – €407,9 million income
Andalucía: 565 companies – 2.610 jobs – €228,6 million income
Valencia: 468 companies – 2.267 jobs – €216,6 million income
Galicia: 378 companies – 2.220 jobs – €235,2 million income
Canaries Islands: 238 companies – 1.356 jobs – €122.5 million income
Madrid: 226 companies – 2.491 jobs – €766,3 million income
