Eat, Drink, Sleep: Sunseeker France offers winter selections near Beaulieu sur Mer

This November the Sunseeker France Group reveal their coups de cœur, documenting the finest places to Eat, Drink and Sleep near their offices in Beaulieu-sur-Mer.

Eat: Le Petit Darkoum, 18 boulevard General Leclerc, 06310 Beaulieu-sur-Mer, France

Just a stone’s throw from Beaulieu-sur-Mer’s Port de Plaisance, restaurateurs Saâdia and Michel Guguen inject a taste of Morocco into a town dominated by fine French cuisine.

Stepping into Le Petit Darkoum is like being transported directly into a Moroccan living room. Aromas of warming exotic spices greet you upon arrival, whilst Faïence Mosaics and traditional sofas add to the authentic North African experience. The essential taste of Morocco, however, comes from each of the dishes, prepared by Saâdia herself.

Originally a novice chef, Saâdia has perfected a variety of traditional dishes including couscous, tagines, harira (a meat soup with dried fruit), zaalouk (aubergines and tomatoes cooked in cumin) and ‘chermoula’ sardines. Home-made pastries and North African wines (Guerouanne, Béni M’tir) complete this Moroccan voyage.

Drink: Kurkoff’s Winery, Nouveau Port de Plaisance, 06230, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, France

Almost ethereal, surrounded by the magnificent views of the snow-tipped Alps and the startling blue sea, is the picturesque port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat. It is here where Kurkoff’s Winery can be found, nestled amongst this most sublime of backdrops.

Offering a most impressive selection of hand-chosen wines from around the world, although admittedly this winery is affectionately biased towards its French location, Kurkoff’s welcomes connoisseurs and wine novices alike to sample some of the most exquisite wines.

A landmark on the Cote d’Azur, Kurkoff’s is frequented by a predominately Russian clientele; barely surprising given the fact that this establishment is Russian-owned. The Russian eye for finery and perfection, however, is what really puts Kurkoff’s Winery in a league of its own….

Kurkoff’s Winery is open Tuesday to Sunday from Midday until 3pm and 7pm to 11pm.
